Is there anyone here that does yoga as their main source of exercise? I have MS, and it's hard for me to do any kind of cardio, so I have been doing a lot of yoga. I love it! Sometimes I break a sweat, sometimes I don't. I'm just wondering if anyone has had weight loss benefits from yoga.

i did yoga a lot before my surgery and I have to say I loved it, I could see a difference in the tone of my muscles, did not see a lot of weight loss, but then again it was summer and I was eating a lot of junk!!!!  But I love yoga, I have started again, i am only doing it on Fridays...but I soooo look forward to Fridays even more now!!!!  As you get better, maybe you can start hot yoga or some of the really fast paced flow classes.
Have fun!!!

Welcome to the world of yoga! As a yoga instructor, new students of all levels are always encouraged to try this form of exercise for overall health benefits- mind, body, and spirit. Here are some key things to keep in mind when practicing with MS:
1. Avoid extended periods of excessive heat within the body. If you plan to try Bikram yoga (AKA "hot yoga" make sure your Vitamin D levels are where they need to be)
2. Avoid working to the point of absolute fatigue
3. Use a chair or the wall to modify poses
4. Exhale through the mouth to eliminate any extra heat within the body
5. Practice near a window or fan for ventilation

Along with the cardiovascular workout of a power yoga or flow vinyasa class, you will see many other benefits, including increased flexibility, stronger muscles, better body tone, a naturally defined physique, a relaxed and clear mind, reduced stress, increased body awareness, improved posture, a strengthened immune system, and decreased physical effects of aging.

Have fun and enjoy your yoga journey! Namaste...
