Hi.  I joined Snap Fitness 3 weeks ago.  I have gone almost everyday since joining.  I usually do 60 minutes of cardio (between the treadmill - going between 3.3 and 3.5 mph and incline at 1 or 2 - and the bike - averging a mile a minute).  or 40 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of the weight/strength machines.  Prior to joining, my exercise routine stunk.  I was lucky to get an hour a week in.  I have stayed pretty much around 1300 calories a day which is where I was before joining Snap Fitness.

he good news - NOT.  I have gained 3 lbs since joining.  What the heck. Can anyone tell me, is this normal?

I keep thinking I should start seeing the scale move down any time, but I am getting very discouraged.

That's pretty fast on the bike, are you sure about that mile a minute.  That's 60 miles per hour?

Anyhow, yes that is normal.  Just confirm that you haven't increased your food intake, which can happen.  More exercise is going to stimulate your appetite.

You may gain some lean muscle which can also account for weight gain.
If you are accurate on your calorie intake and you have increased your workouts, then give it time.  It could be some water gain, some muscle gain or just a bit of a stall.

Use how your clothes are fitting as a guide.  If you are gaining weight but your clothes still fit well or even better, then you are probably trading muscle for fat.

give it time.  3 weeks is just a start.

Congrats on joining and keep it up.

You should have your body fat % checked.  I am in the same situation.  The last 3 weeks I have given 150% at the gym.  Working with a trainer 2x a week plus doing all kinds of classes.

The scale would not move.  But when my trainer checked, my BF % had decreased and I had gained 2 pounds of muscle and lost 2 pounds of fat in the last 3 weeks.  The scale does not tell the whole story.  Keep working, the scale will catch up. I feel your pain.

Throw your scale in the trash! You are def NOT gaining fat, so be happy and keep doing your thing, it's just a plateau, you will be fine. STAY THE COURSE!!!

I agree with everyone else. I have really stepped up my workouts in the last few weeks and lost VERY little weight but went from 36 jeans to 34 jeans and am close to moving into 32's. Went from xl shirt to l .....in other words forget the scale it doesn't matter!!!!!!
