Help? Am I doing enough??

Hey guys... So I've been a member of Curves for a year, but actually hadn't even been in 3 months due to numerous health issues...anemia and iron infusions among other things... I finally kicked my own butt and got a real gym membership, and tonight was my 4th day in a row I worked out...

I've got a fitness assessment and meeting with a personal trainer next Tuesday, but for now here's what I've done...

The first three days, ten minutes on the treadmill, plus the 3 minute cooldown... At 3.5 miles per hour and 2 incline... Tonight I did 4 miles an hour and a 3 incline... So a total of 13 minutes there...

Ten minutes each night on the elliptical plus the three minute cool down

And ten minutes on the bike plus the three minute cooldown... The only difference, tonight I did 25 minutes on the bike....

So with this, I also did stretching and weight machines, etc... Does this sound like an ok start?

Any suggestions? I'm 6'1, almost 26 (if that helps!), and at about 254 right now. Pre op I was 355. My resting heart rate is usually about 68-70. During my workouts, my lowest is usually 130 as high as 191 when I'm pushing myself. My average though during my workout is around 170. (On the elliptical and treadmill. on the bike its about 140)

Oh I want to add that in my workout tonight, on the bike I did 8.5 miles in the 25 minutes, the treadmills was .67 in the 10 min (plus 3 cool down)...I had issues bc the treadmill kept not reading my heartrate and slowing down... And 1 mile on the elliptical.

Thanks in advance!

This sounds very similar to what ive done to start out, so I think its great! :)

Right now I am doing alternating days of weight training and cardio. On Cardio days I do 45-60 minutes of cardio.. treadmill, elliptical, bike (may throw in rowing). On the weight training days I do a 20 minutes cardio warm up on the treadmill then spend the other 40 minutes working on a muscle area either upper or lower body. I pick out 4-5 muscles and work those.

There are some really good websites you can check out.. I dont know them by heart but others here do :)

Congrats on the gym membership!

Hey everyone! Thanks... I just want to make sure I'm pushing myself enough. I know I will go harder and longer as I build up my muscles and stuff again.

I meet with the personal trainer Tuesday for the fitness assessment, and I've also purchased two pt sessions, so I will use those for a little guidance on some of the machines... I refused to be roped into the nutrition class. You should have seen the look on the lady's face at the gym when I told her I probably knew more about nutrition, especially my nutritional needs than her nutritionist. LOL!!!!
