Is it unrealistic?

I plan to start training for half a marthon this week... do you think I have enough time to prepare? The race is June 13th and I'm weighing in at 166... just lost 98 pounds.  I want to push myself but do you all think it's a joke that I'm even considering this goal?

I am new to running, but I have been doing aerobics classes (weekly) over the past year.

I would love some thoughts/guidance. thank you.  :)
Kindly,
Robyn

You're asking the wrong group if we think it's a joke.... ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! You get after that goal girl... I think you have plenty of time to train. Just be sure to not increase your mileage by more than a mile every 2 weeks to avoid injury. That will allow you to start off at 0 miles and build to 10 miles by June, once you have done 10, you will be able to finish. Be sure to go to a running store and get PROPERLY fitted for shoes, train smart and steady, progress gradually, and most of all, have fun... YOU GOT THIS!!!! Robyn,

Congratulations on setting a goal.

Dan is exactly correct.

I would add two things:
1) Register for the half now.  It will give you a sense of committment.
2) Find a training program you like and stick to it. I use Hal Higdon's stuff.

Good luck!

Heck, you've got 4 months. That's plenty of time. 4 weeks would be a joke, not 4 months.
