What is your resting heart rate? Has it improved since you began training seriously?
Just got a heart rate monitor and mine went from 87-91 BPM at my heaviest to 58-61 BPM today. I was shocked to say the least.

It's very normal for your heart to beat slower when you have less weight to carry around and are in better condition. Mine hangs out in the mid 50's when I sit down long enough to rest! Prior to the weight loss and aerobic exercise the bpm (beats per minute)hung out at 80-90bpm. Yeah for conditioning

lowest post-op was about 50.  I have my lowest HR in the evening.  Typically when I take it's in the 60 range.

I went to the dr twice in the past month - one for labs & another b/c I pulled a tendon (can you guess why, Ricco?? :)  Once was 46, once was 55.  I used to be heavy, but very active for a long time.  That's when I was a size 20, but lifted weights, jogged (slowly, but jogging it was), & did taekwondo.  At that time it was usually around 55 - 60.  Then I got plantar fasciitis & stopped exercising, promptly gained back the 70 pounds I had lost & kept off for 3 years.  During that next 1.5 yrs at my heaviest weight, it was around 75 - 80.

Prior to surgery mine was around 63 - 65. I go in next week and have it checked again. I'm wondering if it went down after I started doing more training. It'll be interesting to see.

My resting heart rate, which I measure first thing in the morning before getting out of bed (as doc suggested this is the truest way to do it) is around 55. A year ago, it was around 90.  Losing weight and increasing cardio/heart health has made HUGE difference!
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

It's in the high 50s now. It was around 72-82 pre-op.

The weird thing is that my blood pressure is all over the place.

I was just reading about Lance Armstrong's resting heart rate.. its one of the things that makes him such an incredible athlete (not to mention his aerobic capacity):

Armstrong has recorded an aerobic capacity of 83.8 mL/kg/min (VO2 Max),[9][10] higher than the average person (40-50), but lower than other Tour De France winners, Miguel Indurain (88.0, although reports exist that Indurain tested at 92-94) and Greg LeMond (92.5).[11] He has aresting heart rate of 32-34 beats per minute (bpm) with a maximum heart rate of 201 bpm.[12]
