Hello Everyone,

I was wondering (due to the crappy weather) if I could do step areobics in place of short a run outside?

On Sunday, I did an 8 mile run.

Kim,

If you have the option, I would think that a studio cycling class would be a bit better cardio workout.  Step classes and elliptical trainers don't do much for me since I started running, but spinning is a great cross-training workout.  Just my nickel.

Hi Linn,
Unfortunately, I don't have the option of a cycling class.  Thank you anyway.

I don't think anything replaces running.. How about running on a treadmill?? If you don't have membership you can get guest passes for a short time until the weather clears!!

I never thought about getting a guest pass.  Good looking out, Kevin.
Thank you.  Now that the weather has cleared, I will be going for a run this evening.   Good to know when the weather gets crappy again.

Anything that gets the heart rate up will help! Spin class, group classes, swimming, water aerobics, etc...

Also, you can run in crappy weather. At least as crappy as it gets in CA. I wouldn't be running in a blizzard, for example, but I've run in the cold and in the rain.

For the cold, I just dress for it. (Long pants, gloves, hat, workout jacket.)

For rain, I have a special rain jacket (lightweight and neon colored for visibility) and I wear a hat with a brim to keep water out of my eyes. I've only run in sprinkles so far though.
