Best way to start

I need to get off my arse and get moving.  I do walk daily during lunch time, but I feel that this is not enough.  No time or money for a gym membership.

What is the best way to get started?  I have heard start slow, but I would like to have something written on activities and I am not that good at coming up with an agenda for workouts. (Thus the weight gain and WLS)

I have been thinking of buying a Wii Fit balance board and also the biggest loser program to go with it.  Anyone done this? How is working for you?

I understand your frustration. I have been walking 2-3 miles during the lunch hour (can just fit that in) but feel like I do not want to (or able to) do that all the time. I recently bought for Wii the AE Active - it's less expensive than the Wii Fit with a variety of activities. I tried it last night for a short time (I had surgery last week so I don't want to overdue it) and in just in a few minutes I had a pretty good sweat going. Something to consider. I also have a stationary bike I use in the mornings -

HOWEVER - I do not think I could keep with it unless my wife was so faithful - she gets up every weekday morning to exercise and then I go after her, which makes it much easier knowing, and sort of being pushed, that someone else is doing it too!

Find something you like is probably key - if it becomes a chore than you won't stick with it!

Good Luck,
Chris

I keep light handweights in my living room so i can do some arm lifting while i watch tv.  minimal investment but helps me get some upper body training when I'm not out walking/running.

Great idea and I can bring them to work with me for break times.

Scotty, talk to Dan Benintendi. on this board.  He's got three kids (I think it's three).  He works full time and is an awesome father and husband.  He finds the time to do a crazy amount of training.  If anyone can help you or inspire you I know it's him.  There are a lot of other people on this board that find the time to train who also have families I just don't really know their stories.  Basically I think it comes down to this:  you have time for what you make time.

I run for those who can't or won't.  I run because I once was one of those people.
