Thanks Wendy, and congrats on your progress! I'm definatley getting addicted. I find myself driving back roads to my  mom's house, the next town over, and marking mileage. When I realized the back route to the QFC nearest her home was equivelant to a half marathon, I about fainted. But I held it together, because after all, I was driving! My initial goal was to do a half marathon in 2010. Maybe after I get the 10K behind me, I can look forward to a fall half marathon. I will probably map a route near home and give it a try.

I'm going to have to get the nerve up to try the gels.  I so do not want to dump. I've had only one experience, that being with one dried prune, which I loved pre-op, and apparently with the concentrate sugars, well it was too much. Haven't tried anything dried since them.

I like the idea of oatmeal and a banana beforehand. I feel great after cool down from a run, and the next day, not as sore as I used to be. Better each time. I hear ya about the knees. Genetically my family is cursed with crappy knees, so I make sure to watch my step and do stretches to strengthen.

Thanks again, and good luck in March!!

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.
