So I have a co-worker who is a personal trainer, he and I were talking about workouts and weight-lifting and he mentioned that if I am going to do any leg work, to just do squats. Is this true?

I can't imagine just doing squats... Mix it up... Squats, lunges, leg presses, hamstring  curls, leg curls, lateral leg press, calf raises, dead lifts, trampoline, etc... Squats are awesome in that they work the biggest muscle group in your body, however there are other isolation excercises you can do to target specific muscles. Best of luck...I would take your co-workers advice with a grain of salt and thank him for the input...

One might say, "if you can only do one leg exercise then do squats".  I would not recommend only doing squats and unless you have been taught proper technique I would caution you about doing them at all.  I would say that, no, it is not true.
