It's slow, but I'm celebrating anyhow

This time last year I was struggling to do a 36 minute 3 mile run.
Today I just did a 28:06 3 mile run.
That is a PR for me.
Now if I could just take 8 more minutes off I think I might need a horse to do that though.

Congratulations!!  That's a great improvement.  What's your secret?  When I ran my 5K in August, I did about a 36 minute race and I gave it all I had.....could not have went any faster.  28 minutes.....WOW!!!!  Great job!!

I can't even begin to tell you what the secret is.  I wish I knew.
My miles have increased, I have been doing lots of 4+ mile runs.
I have a couple 1/2 marathons in there between when I started and what happened yesterday.
When I'm on the treadmill I have been doing intervals of increased speed and increased incline.  Just trying to vary the workouts so they aren't so boring.
I have also done a couple 1 mile speed tests, where I just run as fast as I can for 1 mile.

I don't know if it was any one thing, or all of it, or just a general increas in fitness.

I will tell you that I thought I was going to be sick when I finished, it's not like it was easy.
I do find that if I don't look at my watch I end up running faster than I intended to.  I think I'm finally finding my comfortable stride.  It's just what my body wanted to run.
