Thursday's Workout!!!
First of all - Congrats to the Yanks.
I just got back from an easy 5 miles and I will probably hit the gym on the way to work for some bi's, tri's and chest. I may also hit the stair climber for 10-15 minutes.
What did you do today?

I was going to try and do a quick 2 miles this morning but I have a horrid sore throat and just don't have the energy to get out and run. Here's hoping for tomorrow morning otherwise I'm running a 10K without having had any workouts between my 1/2 last Saturday and the race this Sunday. Oh well.

I will no longer be a spectator, a dreamer, a wonderer. I AM a doer; not only a goal setter, but a goal achiever. I will lead by example rather than word. I will "DARE GREATLY!"

4.2 Miles prox...........easy run compared to yesterday when I was in pain and wanting to kill someone most of the way..........running is so ODD.
I'm new, so I'm still learning how it works. Got "sick" feeling from waiting too long to eat. That need varies by day too! I was hydrating but suddenly it was like "FEEL BAD SICK TUMMY EAT NOW".
I didn't have that experience with 3 mile runs. Is this typical as I increase distance?

i think that its probably not normal. I wouldn't think that going from 3 to 4 miles, your legs may hurt a bit more and your lungs may struggle some but to have to eat seems a little wierd. I'd try it again and see if you feel the same way next time.

So you don't eat an hour after you run??
Perhaps I was not clear. I don't eat for 1.5-2 hours before a run or I get nauseous during the run. So I would think it would be natural, given running longer, that I would be hungry an hour after I run. Why wouldn't it be?
My lungs struggle with increased speed rather than distance. Trying to run faster KILLS me. The lung damage (COPD type) that I was born with presents itself in an ugly way when I try to run faster, but I manage ok if I go a steady slower pace. Increasing my speed is going to be my biggest challenge for longer runs, because even on short runs it's painful.

I eat after a run if I am hungry. Sometimes the thought of a big omlet gets me home faster.
To be quite honest, I really don't get the question. If you are adding 1 mile, that would equate to about 10-15 minutes. I don't see how that would be much different from your 3 mile run.
