Eating before workouts?
Does anyone have a small snack before your workouts? I ran last night after work. The last meal I had was around noon. Started on the treadmill around 5:00, it was the worst I have felt while running ever! I felt heavy, dizzy, out of breath....just really bad.
Do you think this was just a bad workout? Or could it have been prevented if I would have ate something?
Thanks!!

You should be eating every 2-3 hours, my guess is that you did not have enough energy...

To can probably attribute your poor workout to not eating something before. I try to eat something small and light before I do any type of exercise. It can be fruit, a granola bar, peanut butter on an english muffin, you get the idea. I find that if I eat a little something I have a much better workout.

I always eat something before and something after. Heck, sometimes I eat something during too!
Well, only if it's a long workout, more than an hour or so.
I usually have 2 cheese sticks after. Before could be a piece of fruit or a protein bar -- it depends on when I last ate.

Hello Teri,
This is one of the most common problems that people run into after WLS. Check out the following post and let me know if you have any other questions.

If I'm going to be working out - especially if it will be an intense workout (running), I will definitely have a snack before. Usually a yogurt or a protein bar. I tried cottage cheese for a while, but it didn't give me enough oomph to get me through.
Then I just wait for dinner which is within an hour usually.
