Successful 1st race this weekend!

So I did a little throwaway 5K this weekend on Sunday since my office was running a team in the race and I needed a 3 miler as part of my 1/2 marathon training.  Shaved a minute off my pace.  Came in at 35:03 which is great for me, just a hair over 11 minute miles on the pace!  Combined with my 6 mile run on Saturday, that is the most distance I've done over two days.

The distance really starts to ramp up from here until my first 1/2 on Halloween.  I did realize that I started out really fast which is fine for a 5K but I'm going to need to focus on controlling that for the 1/2 or I will burn out way too quickly.

All in all, a good running weekend!

Congratulations on your 1st race.  It's certainly not a "little throwaway 5K!"  It's a major milestone in your journey as a runner!  Good luck with your half marathon training!
