So...What's Up For Next Year???

Hey Guys,

I know it's kind of early but was thinking it would be cool to see how everyone's 2010 race schedule is looking.

So check it.... I got a semi-formal / formal invite to ULTRAman Canada next year and have kind of been keeping it on the DL because I was not sure if I was going to be able to do it or not. It's 3 days... Day 1) 6.2 mile swim followed by 90 mile ride with 7500' of climb. Day 2) 170 mile ride with 8500' of climb. Day 3) double marathon on brutal hills... Crazy but I am stoked about this event. Unfortunatley, it falls in August and that is when I am planning my swim from Spain to Africa via The Straight of Gibraltar, so I think it's off the table for 2010, but 2011 looks promising :) .

As for the rest of 2009 & 2010 here is what I am going to do:

1) Augusta 70.3 Ironman this weekend
2) Austin Longhorn 70.3 Ironman October 2009
3) December White Rock Full Marathon
4) January 2011 Cowtown Marathon
5) February 2011 Rocky Raccoon 100 Mile Super Ultra Trail Marathon
6) San Antonio R & R Marathon
7) IM Arizona ( I officially signed up to volunteer this year so I can get a spot in 2011 & because it will be a blast)
8) A couple other marathons (Undecided which ones... I remember Ron mentioned that team historical run relay, that would be awesome)
9) My HUGE Swim in August www.swimfromobesity.com
10) Probably 3-4 Sprint / Oly tris locally

We will see what else we can cram in there... Let's hear your plans!!!

Right now I don't have a lot planned but here is what I have:
Oct 11, 1/2 marathon
Oct 31, 1/2 marathon
April/May 2010 Olympic distance @ wildflower
July 2010 70.3 distance Vineman
I'm sure I'll do a couple sprint triathlons I have a 40.00 coupon for the company that runs them locally, so I have to do that.
I want to do a couple century rides.
I may do more later in the year depending on how the 2 triathlons go.

I've been thinking about this as I go through this season. I hear about races I didn't know about when I started and I've done some races that I want to repeat and some I don't. Right now, I'm definitely planning on the following:

1) Showdown at Sundown - an afternoon sprint in March as a tune-up
2) Wildflower - Long course - first weekend in May
3) Mermaid Sprint - early June - it's in my hometown and it was fun
4) Donner Lake Tri - mid-July - LOVED the course this year; want to try it again and (hopefully) race better
5) Barb's race - an all-women HIM in Aug. on a similar course to Vineman
6) Santa Cruz Tri - late Sept - the regional club championship - my club is looking for a three-peat and I want to race and not be on the sidelines like I was this year
7) IMAZ - late Nov - I'm going down to volunteer this year and sign up for next year

I'm trying to race less, but longer distances next year so I don't know if I'll do anything else. I might sign up for a marathon in Oct. as a pre-race workout for IMAZ. Then again, I love to race so maybe I'll throw in a bunch of Sprints in there and treat them like workouts. Also, our club is looking for a destination race and, if it's not Donner Lake, then I'll do whatever it is.

Those of you that are planning on racing less and training more for the long distance are smart.

Anyhoo-no clue. I'll do my first olympic next year. SNORT...never did one of those!

I might do the Augusta half next year. We'll see.

We will do the Monumental Half Marathon in November.  The Mini Marathon in May.  The Hilly Hundred bike ride in October.  I've yet to decide what Tri. Sprints that I'd like to do but I do want to do several of them.  I've got my sights on doing at least one 70.3 Ironman.

I've got this lined up officially:

10/4 Lake Lanier Islands Sprint Tri (Lake Lanier, GA)
10/25 Spin for Kids Century Ride
11/8  XTerra GA Battle @ Big Creek 9 mile trail run
11/26 Atlanta Half Marathon
5/16 IMFL 70.3

I will have to add some races in early 2010 as a part of my HIM training, i'll probably have a couple of longer distance events to prep and shy away from too many sprints.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

This year was all about finishing my first olympic distance tri- mission accomplished!

What I have already planned for next year is:

1) StarkerMann reverse tri in May Olympic distance.

2) Avita Black Bear bicycle race in July- my first century!

3) Timberman Ironman 70.3 tri in August

4) Tawas Triathlon Festival 1/2 Ironman in September.

I'm going to try to throw in a few 10Ks and a half marathon somewhere along the way.
