Running on grass

My wife has finally got into walking and now jogging a little. She only has certain days that she can do it. We end up going 3 days in a row. I usually run while she walks and  jogs for short distances. I have been trying to take a rest day but when I go with her to the local park I always end up running. This week I have been venturing off the walking/running track and have been running in the grass. I read in Runners World magazine that it is a lot easier on you joints and actually more work because of the softer surface. I can tell immediately that it is easier on the knees and ankles. They also say that because of the uneven surface that it will strengthen your ankles because you are constantly making minute corrections.

Any one else out there run on grass?

Doing this has got me thinking about trail running. I have never tried it, I am beginning to think it might be fun.
