Cyclists - how overweight were you....

when you started riding a bike?  I am getting ready for WLS and I don't want to stress a bike too much.  I used to ride, and it is one of my favorite forms of exercise.

I'm afraid I'm too overweight to ride.  Should I ride a mountain bike first since the tires are a bit sturdier?  I'd kill some road bike tires with my big 'o butt.  How much did you weigh when you started riding?

Also, how soon were you able to get on the bike after surgery?

I never stopped biking... my highest weight was 223.

However most bikes can handle more than that.

I started back on the bike at 2 weeks after surgery.
