Such A True Statement...

So yesterday after the bike race, there was a sign in the locker room where we took showers at the local high school. It was such a simple statement, but such a true one, I will keep this thought in my mind during Ironman next month...

Learning to swim was difficult.  Competing in my first tri was amazing!

I saw this one the other day, and I'm using it now whenever I want to quit.

“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever."

-Lance Armstrong

While pain may not be temporary, lots of people live with it every day, the part about quitting sure is true to me.

So while I may ***** and moan, whine and complain, I'm not going to give up and I'm not going to quit.  I will beat exercise, I will bend it to my will, and some day I will reach a level of consistancy or adequacy that I can be proud of.  But that will never happen if I quit.

Those are good.
My current mantra is:

There are dozens of rules for success.  None of them work unless you do.

And the one from former Olympic Decathalon Champion Bob Richards:
Success; 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.

Hope your training is going well.
