Foot pain question

Okay I have been able to run 5 miles.  Last night I ran 5.5 miles.  The last half mile my left foot along the outside edge started to hurt.  And it still hurts today.  Anyone have any idea what it could be. 

 Two possibilities I can think of...

If you wear a stability shoe and actually run more on the outsides of your feet, you may need a new shoe.  I used to run in stability shoes since I have a low arch, but was watched and really just need a good neutral shoe.

Maybe it's just time for new shoes.  Any time I'm ready for a new pair, my feet hurt in odd places.  I don't even keep track of the mileage because my feet will tell me when it's time.

they are fairly new shoes but it may be I do run wear my soles out on the outside edges.  Thanks.
