Electrolytes Supplements

Looking for some experience from those who have used electrolytes supplements post WLS.

I currently use Ultima Replenisher since it's sugar free and and has nothing artificial in it.

I'm considering starting electrolyte tablets for longer workouts as we head into summer.    I'm looking at Succeed S!Caps and Endurolytes and wonder if anyone has found them to be good or bad with our altered guts.

Thanks!

Tom

Thanks for asking Tom as this is something I have been curious about. I dont use anything but gatorade and was wondering what else there is out there. I cant wait for some info.

Hopefully Sherry pops in on this one -- I use Gatorade and the sport beans.  The two triathlons I've participated in both used HEED/Hammer nutrition.  Like Gatorade there's bad flavors out there, but I felt like I was drinking liquid cotton candy with that stuff, yuk.
I know Sherry does some more custom drinks that she seems to really like.

I use Cliff Shot Lemonade and it is the best. It's got a tart but salty taste to it that tastes so dang good out on the course! It is loaded with Potasium and sodium and tastes awesome. It is sweetened with evaporated cane juice NOT refined sugar so it should sit well post-op for most people. I also do sports beans, power bars, and use Thermolyte salt tabs. I take 2 every 30 minutes on workouts longer than 2 hours, That gives me 600 MG sodium from tabs, about 600 MG from Cliff Shot drink, and 100 MG +/ - from Sports Beans per hour. I am a VERY salty sweater so I need between 1200-1400mg p/ hour. I am a fan of salt tabs for sure, and if you lose alot of electrolytes during excercise, they are a must in my opinion...

Thanks Dan.  I was hoping you would chime in.

So ... another option to consider in tabs - Thermolyte !

Looks to be in the middle of sodium values of the other 2.

I tried a bunch of stuff. I like the Hammer products on paper. I think they have the best stats and are well-made. But the taste is kind of blah. So I use other stuff or I mix their stuff with other stuff that tastes better.

I use GU2O instead of Gatorade because Gatorade has too much sugar for me. I don't like the Clif products for the same reason. I use Roctane and Accel Gel for gels.

I also use trail mix and bananas and protein bars.
