Wednesday Workouts
800 yards in the pool this morning. This is the most I have swam to date. I am still struggling in the water, but still working hard. I am hoping since school is out I can join a masters swim class and get better.

I have never heard of national running day. Good thing I got out there.
My intention was to do 10 - 1/4 mile hill runs. Of course, I am an idiot and went to the biggest hill in the town for my first hill workout.
I ended up doing 5 - .15 mile hill repeats. It was still a good workout but just too much to start. The elevation went up about 100 feet over the .15 which is about 11%. Too much to start. Next week, I will go to a kinder hill and do my 10 - 1/4s

Today was supposed to be my 8 mile long run for the week. I just couldn't do it.
I managed to get in 4 miles, then walked 2 more. Got in a couple sets of chest presses with the dumbells, then had to hit the showers. Was feeling really drained.
There is always next weeks long run to look forward to.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
Yesterday morning, I got up and ran 8 miles once I found out that it was National Running Day. In the evening I hit the gym for an intense one-hour spinning class. Since I am the fastest (and definitely the oldest) in the class, my spin instructor has me lead the class in three seven minute sprints, followed by five break-your-back hill climbs. I still can't figure out how people can leave the class without breaking a sweat.

This morning I had my first session with my new personal trainer. It was the short free intro session but next week we start the 1 hour real sessions.
Tonight is swimming, but I won't know the workout until I get there. Assuming I don't sneak off to this cool running party instead.

1 hour group class called "Group Power", a barbell program with exercises similar to weight lifters on TV. Had a substitute leader who just happened to be a guy with no six-pack abs.
1 hour water aerobics class in 5 feet of water in warmer pool.
1/2 hour lap swimming in cooler pool after water aerobics class.

Has not weighed myself since 1/2010. Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.
Tonight was my 1st session with the local Tri-Club, in preparation for the July 26th Iron Girl in Syracuse. With the lake only 56 degrees and no wetsuit, I did just the 10 mile bike at 16.5 mph and a 3 mile run at 10:18 pace.
But, next week I'll be trying out my first open water swim. One of the members sold me her used Xterra wetsuit for $50. Gotta love being in the right place at the right time.
