First 5K race report
I ran the Celebrate America 5K this morning in Alpharetta, GA. My goal was to finish under 30 minutes and if I couldn't do that finish with a pace under 10:00 miles. I was able to pull off both goals and finished with an average pace of 9:03 and a time of 28:10 (unofficial time taken off of my garmin watch).
I couldn't be happier with the results, and because of the valuable information from this forum, I was able to prepare for the race and resist the urge to surge off with the pack at the beginning. I was also able to run an even paced race as evidenced by my splits: mile 1) 9:02, 2) 9:02, 3) 9:05.
I'm already thinking about the next steps in my training and other events, and am really looking forward to branching out into tri's. Thanks to all on this forum, it has been incredibily inspirational and motivating!

Fantastic times! I am still slower than a snail - but I hope to improve my times over this summer.
