Sleeping pills and metabolism

I was wondering if anyone knew if sleeping pills would slow down your metabolism?  I can fall asleep ok, but when my husband comes to bed, I have a hard time falling back to sleep if I dont take the pills.  I am trying to do everything possible this time to lose the weight, and am afraid that the sleeping pills are making it harder to lose.

Thanks

Amanda

I am pre-surgery.
I started taking AmbienCR to sleep about 6 weeks ago (terrible insomnia related to peri-menopause) -- and I have lost 10 pounds in that time.

Before the meds, i was unable to sleep for more than 1 - 2 hours a night, I was too exhausted to exerecise, I was hungry in the middle of the night, etc.

Now, I take my AmbienCR at about 10pm, I am asleep before 11pm and I wake at about 5am and then go back to sleep until  6am.

I am not groggy from it, I am able to make it to the gym every other day. I could go every day, but I am nursing tendonitis in my ankle and don't want to over-do it.

For me, the sleep med is like a gift from heaven.

Lack of sleep ups your ghrelin and is associated with weight gain.

And that's all I know about the topic.
