Race report
I ran the Azalea Run 10K in the freezing cold Saturday morning in Tyler . It was about 34 degrees with a pretty good breeze out of the north.
I got there a little early about 7:15 and got my timing chip and pinned my bib number on the front of my jacket. They had a neat deal about 15 minutes before the race they lined up the little kids and let them run a 50 yard dash. A lot of the runners lined both sides of the road and cheered them on.
The race starts and the first ½ mile is on cobble stones. It was neat. The residential area we ran through was beautiful. The flowers were just spectacular and the houses themselves were awesome.
I ran almost the entire race with a gentleman from Tyler . He must have been from Tyler because he knew all of the people working the race. It was good to run with someone, because there were several hills that tested us and we were able to make it up them with each other’s encouragement.
I finished in one hour and seven minutes. I was 453 out of 689 runners that finished. Not great but for someone that weighed almost 300 pounds five months ago, I feel good about it!!
I will be running the “Bear Chase" half marathon on Saturday April 11th.
Way to go bro... I wil see you out at White Rock this year!

Hey, your times are better than mine and you finished in the top half. I think that's a lot better than "not great"!
