My first winter 5K.  It was -14 when I woke up and started out at 7:30 a.m. to meet up with my brother in law.  It got ALL THE way up -7 at the start of the race.  I really thought I was going to be cold the entire time - but I knew the basics of clothing and sure enough, by around 2 miles my head was steaming.  I didn't dare take my hat off though.  It was easier than I expected as far as breathing in cold air though my knees really hurt.  Does anyones knees hurt more in the cold than the warm?

Brrrr!  Running in 7 below temperatures certainly shows some serious determination.  Like you, I do find that my knees are a little sore on those frigid days.  They just never seem to warm up.  I've been such a winter wimp this year, opting for the treadmill over the cold.

Congratulations on getting out there despite the elements.

Our winter races usually start later in the day - can't belive yours started so early!

Great job getting out there and doing it!  It must've been for a good cause!

Dude, where I live 55 F is freezing...

I'm going to guess that your knees hurt more because the ground was harder. Does that sound plausable?
