When can I exercise???

My doctor says I can go back to the gym on 12/4 but I'm still having tenderness or swelling/bloating, something in my stomach. Mostly when I bend over or do a lot of work around the house. Sometimes I just feel sharp pains for a few seconds.  I really want to start working towards a triathalon but I don't even know if I'll be ready to workout by the 4th.  Should I push thru this pain or will that make it worse?  I'm mostly just walking and doing yardwork for exercise right now.  I'm 3.5 weeks post op RNY.  Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

No pushing it. Be sure to follow your Dr's advice and listen to your body. However, there is nothing wrong with walking, as a form of exercise. Walking is a great start to any exercise program.

I went back to the gym at 2 weeks. But all I did was the stationary bike. It is really low impact and mostly cardio. I gradually worked up to the treadmill. Then I decided to do a tri so I started adding in swimming.

I'm two months out and only now am I willing to add strength training.
