I did a 3.1 mile training run today.  I did it at a pretty good intensity to break the same old LSD thing.

Today is a rest day for me, but I really need to do some serious housework...

I spent two hours at the gym today simulating my long run - 1 hour elliptical, 15-minutes stair climber (hated it), 45-minute spin.  I figure I'll just keep putting in the time.

Hey Sherry,

I was just looking at the IMAZ website.  Is it unusual for a course to do laps like this one does?  I have family in AZ and it sounds like a good vacation race!  I'll be anxiously awaiting your report!

Most Ironmen have loops. It's logistically easier to coordinate. With a certain number of volunteers, you'll need half/a 3rd amount of volunteers to run aid stations. Plus...it's easier to monitor the course and easier for family/friends to spectate.

Most courses are 2 loops.

IMFL:
2 loops swim (they'd be CRAZY to have us 1.2 miles off shore in the shark-infested gulf)
ONE loop bike
2 loop run

IMLP:
2 loop swim (lake too small for one)
2 loop bike (did you see the elevation profile?)
2 loop run

IMAZ:
ONE loop swim in tempe reservoir
3 loop bike
3 loop run

Did 4.64 miles yesterday morning...yes an odd number, but I did an out and back and Garmin said this is what it was.  I thought I had 4 even.  See why I use a Garmin?!

Also did a 1 hour step class and a 1 hour body Pump class.

Ran my very first 5K on Sunday!  I beat my own personal record.  I was amazed at how much fun it was and the great after run party!

Gotta love it!
