Events in the rain

So I have a short fun race this weekend, but it's supposed to be raining, any suggestions for things that might change.  I actaully haven't done any runs in the rain.

Next week I have a sprint-tri and they are forecasting rain for that as well.  I figure I'd be wet any how from the swim, but does it change anything on the bike/run, other than possibly being slippery?

Do you change your clothing choices when doing events in rainy weather?

Water temp is supposed to be 62-65 degrees.  I have a shorty wet suit, so that ought to be enjoyable.

Thanks

Scott

I don't have any advice for your tri next week, but for the run, be careful not to wear too many clothes.  The last race I did in bad weather I wore too many layers and was WAY too hot and it slowed me way down.

I also have a race this weekend (tomorrow) most likely in the rain.  I'm going to wear one long- and one short-sleeved shirt and I'm still going to wear shorts.  I generate quite a bit of body heat when I run.  I had to learn my lesson the hard way.

Hi Scott:
For the run, I would just be sure to wear tech fabrics, so if I did get wet, I wouldn't be weighed down.  I would also wear a hat to keep the raindrops out of my eyes.

Hopefully someone experienced with Tri's can give you some advice.

Good luck!!

OK, I totally sucked at Ironman Lake Placid. I was there for FUN, not to do well or set any goals. I was there to collect a medal! It was the best medal eva!

Anyhoo-it rained 14 of the 16 lolligagging hours it took me to finish.

I wore the same thing throughout the race. Wear arm warmers. Might as well swim in them if it's cold. The work the same in the rain. then you won't have to waste time putting them on in transition!
