Sunday Workouts!

Since I took an unintended day off yesterday, I thought I better make good on my long run for the week.  But... I got up VERY dizzy this morning and stayed that way for over an hour.  I was a little nervous to run, so I made sure I went to the gym for a spin class just in case.  Made it through that just fine and then decided to try something new.  I ate a bag of sport beans before I did my run.  I planned on being happy if I made it 5 miles, but was able to do all 7 I was supposed to!

10 min 6.8; 5 min 6.9.  Repeat until you get 7 miles.  Ended up doing the last 6.5 min at 6.9 to finish up strong.  Total time: 61:30

Lesson: sport beans are fine.  Next tri I do, I'll have to make sure I have some when I'm on the bike.  Don't think I could do it while running, but on the bike there's a little time for them to get out of the pouch before the run.  I AM going to have to get used to drinking some while I run.  I got thirsty today.

 Linn,

Glad to hear you got to feeling better.  That is quite the workout you got in despite starting the day off by not feeling well.

I ran about 14 miles today.  The schedule called for 18, but time constraints only allowed for 14.  I was pretty happy with the 14 as I am still recovering from the cold I've had all week.  After the run I went to the Walk From Obesity in NYC.  So I got in a few miles of walking also.

After we got home, DH and I took a long nap - that was the best activity of the day!

I ran a 5k race (my 3rd!).  I am still slow, but getting faster - my time was 37:21 (5 minutes faster than my first race -yah!).

My next race is on 10/11 - I am hoping to come in under 37 minutes.  I think I can do it!!

Congratulations, Elisa.  Shaving time off is always a good thing.
