When is a Lap RNY patient considered healed for exercise purposes?

I know it will depend on my doctor but just curious as to when I might be able to get back to lifting and more strenuous activity than just walking.

I worked closely with my Nutritionist and they encouraged walking as soon as possible post-op however for lifting I was restricted to 6 weeks.

However, my Nut told me to consider water aerobics in the meantime during my wait for those 6 weeks and I love it!!!! The class has helped me work on my strength and endurance and makes me feel more rounded in my exercise.

Congrats on your date and get moving!

Walking, riding, light jogging and almost anything that didn't put excessive stress on the core was cleared almost immediately.

I was told initially 6 weeks before doing any lifting, crunches things like that.
At my 1 month visit the doctor cleared me to start lifting again.

How about low-impact aerobics. I did some Gilad videos pre-op that work really well.

Hi,

I did an aerobics video around week 2 post op.  Regarding lifting, my doc's guidelines say not until 3 months post op.
