I went to the doc couple of weeks ago and he drew blood. Every thing came back fine . Iron was one point under normal. I was just doing a search for iron rich foods and I came across this. http://www.healthcastle.com/iron.shtml, go down about half way the page and it gives a list of foods that inhibit the absortion of iron and you should not eat with iron rich foods. I was some what amazed that soy was on the list. I never knew. I do have a lot of soy products in my diet. I was just eating lunch and I always put soy nuts in my salad for the extra protien. Kind of negates the steak I was eating for protien and iron. Just thought I would share.

Eating citric acid (Vitamin C) with your iron-rich foods ASSISTS with absorption.  Also good info to have.  When I take an iron supplement, I always take it with fruit juice.
