best exercise for upper abs
Get an exercise ball. Not the smallest, not the largest. Mine is green (sorry I can't remember the circumference)
sit on it. With your feet, moving forward and your back going backward, roll down until the ball is in the small of your back

I started these when I was 330 or so. Did 3 sets of 15 reps. I am now up to 4 sets of 50 reps. It's really not that hard and I feel it every time that I do it.
I also do side crunches to target the obliques for one of the sets.
