I AM ALMOST 2 YRS POST OP AND DOING GREAT, LOST 110 AND AT GOAL AND MAINTAINING THAT GOAL FOR A YEAR NOW. I WALK EVERY DAY, BUT NEED TO DO SOMETHING MORE. WHAT IS THE BEST FOR ME? WEIGHTS/MACHINES AT THE GYM? PILATES?   CURVES? I KNOW I NEED TO BUILD UP MUSCLE MASS, I TRIED PILATES RECENTLY AND LOVED IT. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS.

All of it!  Actually weight training is super important, especially for women.  The more muscle mass we have the more calories we burn.  Pilates is great, but I'm not sure it will increase your muscle the way weight training does.  I think a combination of weight training and pilates along with your walking would be a very well rounded exercise plan.

Congratulations on the weight loss. Sounds like you're doing great. I think finding something you "love" and doing it is the most important thing. You'll get more out of going to pilates on a consistent basis than forcing yourself to hit the weights because you know you should.  There are people on here that love to run, swim, bike, hike, do yoga and pilates and everything in between.  I love lifting weights and throwing things, but I'm weird.  Find something you love to do and you'll be more likely to continue doing it long term. It doesn't really matter what it is, as long as you like doing it. People that hate to exercise or feel like they are forced to do it or just do it to get rid of those last few pounds, will quit....sooner or later...they will quit doing whatever it is. I rather see you do Pilates the rest of your life than hit the gym hard for a few months and quit just  because I think lifting will give you better results. Good Luck Earl

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY EARL. I THINK I AM GOING TO GO WITH THE PILATES. I TRIED MY FIRST CLASS THIS PAST SATURDAY AND AM SOOOOO SORE TODAY (MONDAY) BUT IT'S A GOOD SORE SO i MAY GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY. I DID LIKE IT. NORMALLY I DON'T LIKE ORGANIZED CLASSES BUT THIS WAS GOOD. I ALSO LOVE YOGA AND ZUMBA (IF U KNOW WHAT THAT IS). KEEP UP YOUR GOOD WORK AND TAKE CARE.
