what to wear, what to wear?

Hi all,    I've signed up for my first 5K which will be on 11/3!!  So now that I've sent in the registration and am running more...what do I wear??  I'm in NH, so it could be chilly.  Today I ran outside for the 2nd time and it was breezy with just my t-shirt on.  So...suggested fabrics, etc?  Thanks!

I may start with a long sleeve shirt like this if it's in the 50's http://www.runningwarehouse.com/catpage-MRLSTOP.html Make sure that it is moisture wicking and that will help keep you warm.  If you go to any sporting goods store or running store, they will be able to help you better.  There are moisture wicking cloths for every season now.   For a 3 mile race, you won't have the problem of over heating so wearing too much will only make you uncomfortable.

I would think in NH it would be cool in a couple of weeks.  I got a running jacket last year that has holes for the thumbs.  It's great since my hands get real cold.  You can also wear running gloves, but if your hands sweat they get uncomfortable.  The big thing is don't wear anything that you might need to take off, since you still have to carry it through to the finish line, or drop it off on the road. Good luck.  I'm doing the Americross OvertheBridge 10k in Phila-Camden on 11/4 Sunday.  I'm only hoping that the weather gets a little bit cooler. Rob

I would wear a long sleeve moisture wicking shirt.  I absolutely HATE a shirt that is too tight around the neck because as I run, it pulls up in front and makes me feel like it's choking me.  So, my advice is to find a slight v-neck if possible!  It makes all the difference in the world!  You could wear a jacket over this and then take it off and tie it around your waist if you get too hot.  That is what I usually do and it works fine!

Good luck, you will do great!

One more thing ... when I run outside, my nose runs like CRAZY!  Especially when it's cold and windy.  So, I always carry a washcloth with me ... I fold it up and just carry it in my hand.  That way I have something to either wipe the sweat, or wipe my nose!  I don't know if this happens to you or not, but it's soooooo worth having one with you if you need it!   Another bit of advice ... put some lip balm on before you start because your lips will dry out like crazy!   Deanna  :)
