First Duathalon completed!

I completed the Fox Run Duathalon on Saturday!  It was really tough on the body.  I finished 97 out of 111 finishers.  48 people did not finish.  The race consisted of a 1.5 mile run, 20 mile cycling, and 3.1 mile run.  This was really a race.  It was wet, cold and windy. I completed the first run in 13m40s (just over a 9 minute mile).  The transition was fun and I got on my bike and rode.   Since I am avid cyclist I figured that this part of the event would be my fastest event.  I did not count on the massive headwinds and the hills that were on the event.  I finished the 20 miles in 1h8m (17m/h).  Not my best by any means.  When I got off my bike and started jogging my hamstrings were screaming to stop.  I plowed on for another 400 yards and thought that I would have to DNF, but once I found the right pace I was able to continue running.  I completed the 5k in 26m46s (nice pace for me).  The total time to complete the duathalon was 1h52m13s.  I was 7 out of 7  in my M50-54 class, and 71-77 males. My body is aching a little this morning but not too bad.  I ran a 5k yesterday just to get some spring back in my legs.  Now I need to start training for the MS150 Bike to the Bay in two weeks (last cycling event this year), and then switch back to a couple of 5k,10k, and 10m events to finish the year.    I will definitely train hard for this event next year. Congrats, I finished my first dualtalon in febrary and it was 2 mile run, 15 mile bike, 2 mile run. Yes the last two miles my legs felt like bricks and I felt like my legs could not move. I finished mine in 1 hr, 42 minutes and I plan to do another in Oct. This one is 2 mile run, 12 mile bike and 2 mile run. I hope I can improve a little.

Way to go Rob.  Those are some impressive times.  I'd love to see what you can do if you, "train hard".  Keep up the very impressive work.
