Lap Band and Exercise

I am 2 months out from being banded. I recently joined a gym and I have been working out. Part of my routine is crunches and other ab exercises. Is this dangerous for the band or port? I have discomfort in my abs but not sure if it is the soreness from working out or something wrong with the band.. Anyone know if it is safe to work out with the band? Thanks Debbie

Hey Debbie! Congrats on being banded! It is safe..  if you feel discomfort around the port then stop.  I was cleared for all workout at 6 weeks.  Doctors want you to get out there a work it! I just recently popped a stitch (port stitch)  Hurts a bit when I apply pressure, but Dr C says it is no big deal.. and my fill went without a hitch on Saturday. So do what you are capable of.   I do around 120 situps (in different variations) 4 days a week... so the band can take it. Amanda
