DOES ANYONE OUT THERE GO TO CURVES? I LOVE IT AND ENJOY THE WORK OUT, I PREFERE IT TO THE GYM, MEANWHILE, THE NUTRITIONIST AT MY WLS OFFICE HAS SAID THAT IT DOESNT HELP BUILD MUSCLE MASS, DOES ANYONE AGREE OR DISAGREE? I AM GOING TO STAY THERE REGARDLESS AS I DO ENJOY IT. I ALSO WALK ON THE DAYS I DON'T GO. THANKS.

Of course using the equiptment at curves can build muscle mass.  Maybe your nutritionist is unfamiliar with the equiptment.  I went to Curves for 16 months post op and I know that  I would be as far as I am without it!  I did develop muscle and lose fat.  Two months ago I joined a "full" gym and  love it.  I need to be somewhere that had beeter hours since my schedule is awful (full time work, full time grad student and part time internship).  P.S. I absolutely love the new gym and if I hadn't started with Curves, I know I wouldn't love exercise as much as I do! Sam

Hi Joanne, I just joined curves at the end of January. I try to go 3 times a week; however, during the month of February it wa**** and miss because of the weather and other scheduling conflicts. I got weighed and measured on Monday, March 5. Despite my hit and miss attendance I lost 1/4 inch off my hips and 1/4 inch off my right arm. The report that was computer generated credited me with a loss of 3/4 inch. I suppose the computer assumes that if you lost 1/4 inch on one arm that the other arm also lost 1/4 inch. Whether it builds muscle mass or not, I don't know; but I do believe it does increase muscle tone. I enjoy the workout and the fellowship with the other women working out there. I  like the fact that it is a women only facility. The counselor at curves said that we should do other aerobic exercise on the days we don't go so walking is great. How long have you been going to curves? Nancy

Nancy, I just joined a couple weeks ago, in fact, the place I go to is called slim and tone, but it's exactly the same stuff as curves, and all women and it's gr8 to be able to chat while working out. I was a member of curves a few years ago and didnt go that much because of being so heavy etc. But now with all my weightloss and extra energy, I love what I do. I try to go 3 times a week, and on the off days I walk.
