When do you exercise?

I was just wondering what everyone thinks.  I've been walking on my treadmill every evening but I don't know is it better to exercise before I eat dinner or after I eat dinner?  I've done it both ways but don't know what I should be doing?  Thanks for any input you can give me.

What I think and what I do are polar! Here's what I mean: For the past 21 years, basically, I go before work (5:30 a.m. ish).  If I need to miss due to work or something, I make sure to go immediately after work.  I think  a person should go after lunch, but before supper ideally.  Because that way, your body has had fuel so far, and it's warmed up so physical potential is at its greatest. It's hard to eat anything before I go, early early as I do,  even a piece of fruit, it sounds terrible. HOWEVER - first and foremost, any exerciser should go when the time of day is most usually sacred - to prevent excuses about schedule!  That is my bottom line.  Early Mornings for me are rarely disturbed.  My most desired time of day?  late morning.  Darn work gets in the way.  For you, I would say before supper is best.  I perform best of all when I've got a pretty empty stomach. If you have to do after, try to make sure it's at least an hour after so your digestion can fini****s job.

Just do it when you can do it.  I know there are studies out there that tell you that you'll burn more fat if you do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. But the difference is so small you'll never notice it. Personally, I think having a little fuel for the fire helps you work out more intensely, so you'll burn more calories overall, than if you didn't eat anything and drag through your workout.
