hair loss with increased workouts?

I am nearly 7 months from my surgery day.  I have been active consistently since the 1st of October.  Right now I spend about an hour a day (4 to 6 days a week) on the treadmill usually doing a walking and jogging combination.  I also do some light weight training 3 days a week and try to get in crunches and push-ups every night. I have been having quite a bit of hair loss since month 2.  It slowed in November when my workouts slowed.  It has increased again with an increase in my workouts.  I recently started doing intervals and switch back and forth between running and walking. I guess my question is whether the hair loss is related to the increase in working out.  I get around 80 grams of protein a day and eat between 600 to 1200 calories a day.  I feel great and have very little side effects other than the hair dropping out like crazy.  I am down 80lbs and I don't want to slow down on activity but I really like having hair too! Any one else noticed a similar effect? Kathy

Kathy, Hair loss is very common after WLS.  Are you taking Biotin, B-1 or a B-Complex?  The B vitamin family is harder for us to absorb from foods after surgery, therefore supplements are usually recommended to help the body get what is needed. Check with your surgeons office to see what they recommend. Bonnie RNY 06/21/04 254/236/140/ goal 120
