Yes, I know  - "Ask your doc."  I did, and got 2 different answers so I thought i would ask the wl atheletes.  here's the situation.  I have the lap band.  I have been working out for a year with a trainer and am pretty strong and toned and at goal weight.  I had to have the band repositioned last week, so I am recovering from this second laperoscopic surgery.  I got an answer of 2-3 weeks and 11-12 weeks from my surgeons about restarting weight training.  I don't want to lose the muscles/tone I have achieved so far, but don't want to restart training too soon.  Other than walking, what else can I do to keep tone and when do you guys think it will be best to restart weight training?  Thanks.

There's not as much recovery for lap band so I wouldn't think 11-12 weeks sounds right if you were in good health going into surgery. My surgeon normally tells people 6 weeks after RNY but knew I had been training for over 30  years and just told me to use my best judgement. I wouldn't do any ab or heavy leg work right after surgery but some light upper body or machine training that doesn't strain your abs or incisions shouldn't hurt anything. If it hurts, don't do it. Working out eats into your recovery abilities too, so don't pu****
