How do you walk when its so cold
I ran away from THAT kind of cold, I now live in Cali. LOL My DH and i go to the snow (an hour away) and snowshoe or hike if it is light snow., though.
I was raised in Illinois, so I did used to walk all of the time as a young adult. The cold air was not the worst thing, it was the ice on the road, for me. That was a show stopper. My 70+ year old mom gets out in it, still lives in Ill., so do my younger bro & sis - nearly every day. Like me, ice draws the line for them. Not even snow will stop them.
If it was only cold air, I wear layers: thermal underwear, maybe one more light long sleeve shirt. light snowpants, ligh****er proof jacket. I usually ended up taking off my jacket or unzipping it very soon into the walk. I now have exercise-induced asthma, so I need a light scarf around my mouth, too. This way i concentrate on nose-breathing and not too much cold air gets into my lungs. Gloves, of course! Those come off most of the time, too.
I truly miss my moonlight walks in the new snow. It's worse thinkig about it than doing it, i assure you! Once yo're out there, you don't regret it.
You wear layers. I wear 2 pairs of pants (the outside pair are heavier), a shirt, sweater, and big parka. I wear a face/head mask, along with a scarf and warm gloves. Halfway through my walk I usually end up removing the mask and unzipping the parka, but it depends on how windy it is.
It's actually quite fun if you dress warmly enough.
