Help! Need tips for June Triathalon training!

I am entering a triathalon in June and am needing help on training for it.  I want to lose about 10 lbs in the process as well, since I've gained a little from not exercising after surgery in August.  I hate running on the treadmill, and at 9 degrees, running outside is out!  Does anyone have any recommendations as to a good running or triathalon book or helpful hints to keep motivated?  I love running and can't wait until the snow melts in a couple months.  Any suggestions are helpful!

I started doing some sprint triathlons before my surgery and I found that there are some great triathlon books out there, Triathlons for Women by Sally Edwards and Triathlon Training for the rest of us by Eric Harr. If you do a search for "Triathlon" at barnesandnoble.com you'll get their most popular books on the subject. You should try to find an indoor track, maybe at a local university or high school to run on. The most helpful to me though was joining a local triathlon club, similar to a running club. I don't know if you have any in your area, but they have group workouts (bike, run and swimming) during the warmer months and happy hours all year round. When I've needed some motivation I have a huge group to rely on. Good luck with your training!

Thanks!  I'm going to look into the books.  I've searched for a club in the area, but found nothing.  I am going to start training more with the other 2 people in my group, even though they are more experienced.  Once the temperatures rise above 40 I hope to train outside, but that doesn't look like it will be happening anytime soon! It is -8 degrees right now.  Maybe in April
