I hope this doesn't post twice. Hey all, I have a few questions and hopefully I can get some answers from you guys... I am a little over 4 months out now and have lost a total of 90 lbs, including the 21 before surgery. I haven't really started an exercise routine but really want to. My problem is I don't have access to a Gym so what are some exercises I can do from home that would give me that same effect? Another thing I wonder about is running. I really want to start a running regimen, also. I know thats something you should slowly build yourself up to, what should I do to prepare my body? I'm definitely a begginer at this stuff. Then last, what about stretching? Do I always do this before every exercise? lol I'm lost. I look forward to hearing some feedback from everyone.. I also would like to hear from Jeremy. Take Care All, Katrina

Katrina, I don't know too much about the exercising in the house thing.  I did buy the Billy Blanks Boot Camp and that will definitely get you into shape.  Don't try to use the bands until you get really good at doing the workout, you will not be able to move.   I am almost 2 years out and have just started working out the way I should.  It is great that you are trying to get into the habit sooner.  I have commitment issue when it comes to gyms.  I have got it in my head that I am going to start training for a mini marathon.  I have never ran before.  Someone on this forum posted a site that I have been going to for some running advice. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml   It is called Couch to 5k!  There are also things called podcasts that you can download to your MP3 player that go along with the program.  They are free. Good luck! Trina

Katrina, Congratulations!  You're off to a great start.  A great workout for you would be a combination of cardiovascular (running, walking, swimming, biking, etc.) and strength training.  You need the strength training to increase your metabolism through more muscle mass.  This also increases your sensitivity to insulin and helps you control blood sugars better.  Strength training also helps makes bones stronger.   You can do LOTS of stuff at home.  Videos can be a great way to go.  We have one that uses resistance bands for upper and lower body exercises.  The info is on our website at www.excelweightloss.com, click on the link to our ebay store.  However, if you want to purchase the bands and/or video call me directly.  We have a special for OH members.  My number is 208 406-8120.  We will be at the Tucson conference if you're near that area!  We can also do some personal training by phone.  Best of luck and keep up the good work!  Karen Donaldson
