Question for Jeremy
Jeremy~
I have a quick question for you concerning weight training. One of my coworkers has developed an 8 week weight training program for me. He is using light weights with 3 sets of 15. I really don't want to bulk up or gain weight. I just want to tone up and become stronger. Can you tell me how much or if any weight I might expect to gain by weight training?
Thank you so much for your time!
Taking one day at a time.
That is a really difficult question to answer.
Training in a repetition range of 15 all the time, I would not expect you to gain too much weight. It would be really hard for me to even guess but I can assure you that training in this repetition range will not cause you to gain so much muscle that you will feel like you are bulking up or gaining too much weight.
If I could suggest a thing or two though:
1. Be aware that after weight loss surgery you are in a caloric deficit so it is going to be difficult for you to gain a lot of muscle in the first place.
2. However, the more muscle tissue you can gain will help in your long term weight loss success.
3. Start thinking like a fit person. Even though you may gain some weight (if you have already reached your goal weight), if your pant sizes are going down, body weight should not matter. Don't let your scale become a stumling block. Your health, how your clothes fit, how you feel, etc...should gauge how you feel about your success, not your body weight alone.
Keep up the good work, you look great!
