Arm Bike?

I'm supposed to walk a 1/2 hr a day (I'm a beginner!)... on the days I can't, I do the Arm Bike, for 15 minutes, twice a day.  Is this a sufficient form of excercise, comparable to walking?

I think it's also called an Oxycycle.  It has pedals like a bike, and you can pedal it with your hands or your feet.  Mine is motorized, you can use it manually or motorized.

May I ask a question and I do not mean to be intrusive ... but how come there are days where you cannot walk 1/2 hr a day?  Due to weather or ?

I am a healthy BMI now and so I am happy.  I haven't decided yet where my comfort point is for maintaining.  I'm trying to lose more, but I may find out that causes me to have more restrictive daily diet and excercise habits than what I am comfortable with long-term.  It's all about choices!!!

You know what I wish?  I wish that it was standard each of us had insurance covered exercise physiologist visits through the first year to help get people on track.  Without having that other information I would say there is no doubt doing your arm back is better than nothing.  Could you take your pulse on your walks and be sure you are getting your pulse up to the same on your arm bike?  That might help.  Also I always think an exercise video - once a person is comfortable enough to do one of these - can be a great substitute for walking.
