Hi all, I am doing crunches since i cant do my treadmill due to a fracture. the fracture is healed but i did my treadmill monday like 22 minutes at 2.5 and did one mile and where i did fracture my foot really did hurt so what kind of exercise can i do for the stomach area? how many crunches should i be doing a day? today i have done sets of 60 with rests so i did 120 crunches so far. is that enough or more? my foot doctor said i could do my treadmill but do the speed in a normal walking mph. so what would that number be about? thanks so much. anita

Please check out the following links for ab exercises. http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/RectusAbdominis/WtJackKnifeS itUp.html http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/RectusAbdominis/WtCrunchUp.h tml http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/RectusAbdominis/WtBallCrunch .html Not that doing 60 repetitions is a bad thing but you should also include more resistance or a higher level of difficutly where you are only able to do 15-20 repetitions. If you are going to do your crunches try hlding something to your chest with a little weight to increase the difficulty.  The walking speed is going to be different for everyone but it will probably be betwee 2.5-3.5 miles per hour.  hope this helps.
