You are right that any exercise is good exercise.  12.5 min miles is not that slow anyway.  The disney marathon sweeps people off the course who run slower than 16 min/miles.  That would be a 7 hour finish.  You have plenty of time on those people.   DLF>DNF>>DNS dead last finish is greater than did not finish which is greater than did not start! Take care Scott

Hey Scott,  I’m in “Re-Start” Mode now myself. I was averaging 16 to 20 miles a week Back at the beginning of July. After Plastic Surgery (July 6th), all exercise stopped And I’m just now getting back at it. I’ve got in 6 miles running this week so far. I’m working to get back to 12 a week By the end of September. The 2 month break is a bear to overcome. Inertia is a powerful force.  “Keeping At It,” seems to be the easiest way To “Keep At It.” Great weather in the South seems to be on my side right now. Best Wishes- Dx

Scott.. I just started last week...I do about 1.25 miles three times a week of pure running...so 3.75 at this point.  I do six miles a day or a litlte more of all exercise.  I average about 36-40 miles a week.  Elliptical, running, treadmill, rollerblading (just started back), and the recumbent bike. I workout at the gym.  Except for rollerblading, I went to a park, but the course was too hilly for me..not that I can't get up it just too scared to come back down and break a limb...been there done that and don't want to do it again.   It is an exciting experience, I can't relate it to anything else I have gone through.  When I am finished working out my head is so clear and I have so much energy. I love to run.. I'm up to about 4 miles a pop when I do get a chance to hit the pavement.. which is about 2x a week. I'm looking into participating in some road races in my area soon. April R

Hi, Just found this web board - great messages on here!   :-) I am currently power walking/light jogging 5 miles a day - 6 days a week - I take Saturdays off from that regimen and just do a small neighborhood walk with our dog.  She also accompanies me on the other days so she's probably happy to have Saturdays off too   I find that I have the capacity to do a faster pace than I actually do at times but it's my joints (knees in particular) that seem to be my bane.  Maybe things will improve with time, but somehow I'm not sure as I've had knee/joint aches and pain from back in the day when I used to do step aerobics and probably shouldn't have as I've probably ruined my knees from that! However, I'm happy with what how things are now so I'm not complaining (too much)  :-) :-) -cbf
