Habitual Exercise/Activity.....

Amy, I had a Panniculectomy. My last abdominal reconstruction Sort of gave me a "free tummy-tuck" In that it pulled all of the abdominal muscles into place. (or as many of them as remained):-) This PS was just to lose the little flap of skin at my beltline. So just one "Bikini-line cut" all the way across. I have been so fortunate with my skin. I have no sag anywhere else. Chest, arms, thighs, rear, etc…all drew up fine. It took a while, but the rest of me responded to exercise well. I had rash issues with my pannus and after my PCP, My Surgeon, and my dermatologist ALL said I had to have the surgery I went for it. My Coumadin use made any rash a Bleeding problem. Insurance covered the whole deal. With my track record with surgery, I was very reluctant But now? I wish I had gone for it much sooner. It makes a huge difference in my "Shape." Clothes fit and FEEL so much better. I had originally had a consult with Dr. Bernadette Wang Ashraf, In Atlanta. I was planning on coming over and staying for a month. But found a Doc in Memphis who had recently performed The exact procedure on 6 other men in the last 3 months So I went with him and it was Great. I was feeling fine in about 3 to 4 days. The Plastic Surgeons tend to be more liberal with the pain meds. Minor discomfort ended after day 3, and once my drains were removed I was Great. Some swelling that will continue on and off For over a month, up to 2 months. It seems better each week. Larry Perry from the Men’s Board had his hernia repair And full Tummy Tuck a few weeks ago and was feeling fine Also around the end of the first week. His was an "Anchor Cut." He has posted a number of times about how much easier this was Than the WLS surgery as well. Mine may be atypical, but It was so much easier than I imagined. Best Wishes- Dx

Wow,  that really sounds great.  I hope that mine will go as well.  I'm waiting on an approval.  He said with my hernia I shouldn't have a problem with the approval on the tummy.  All the other areas will be the hard part.. Amy

hi.. love your post...i also want to say that a lot of the things you have incorporated into your life are as excellent for the environment...always looking for ways to be kinder to the earth... before I had surgery, i would have never cleaned out tin cat food cans or cottage cheese, yogurt containers...but I do now and from your post it could be another one of those little things that adds to my daily movement... I also line dry most of my laundry now..it means moving more getting them up and down...but very satisfying... Haven't started washing my own car yet...I should though.... Oh, and another big difference for me is I used to drive my garbage to the dumpster in the alley..now I simply walk it back there...oh the little things... Jenn

Great post with some great ideas! I did have to laugh...I too walk to the farthest bathroom at my job for the same reasons plus it offers more privacy. Thanks for the ideas and reminders about moving during everyday routine! Christine
