I had surgery almost 8 years ago by Dr. Willaim Peters in Scranton PA, he is a awesome doctor, and you can view my journey on his web site from the moment I met him for almost the first year i journaled it all there and at home kept a journal of everything, how i was feeling, to what i ate and what i threw up, i tracked my weight, measurements, you name it i wrote it down, check me out on the site its www.cutweight. org and go under the pt directory and its under Ginny B.
I didnt have to fast at all and i am glad for that i was allowed to eat up until midnight the night before surgery, however the first two weeks after surgery was all liquids but i didnt want anything to eat and then i had an egg for my 1st meal and youd thought it was a million dollars when i ate it...lol

Yes  it was a HUGE emotional adjustment for me and a LIFE STYLE change that i still deal with on a day to day basis, there are days when i want to eat the things that made me have wls to begin with, we call those "THE BIG MAC, FRIES AND SHAKE SUPER SIZED DAYS", can i eat that HELL NO and if i didnt have surgery would i , HELL YES!!!
I get til this day would get serious dumping if i dont monitor my intake of carbs, fats and sugars and i NEVER eat anything with more than 15 grams of sugar in it and dont eat much fried foods but still have an time to time visit to KFC or BK but i dont depreive myself and of coarse i only can eat a kids meal and thats pushing it, i dont eat much rice, bread or pasta as it just dont want to fit thru my opening of my stomach and i listened very very very closly and i didnt stretch my pouch out much at all and thats REALLY IMPORTANT the first year and maybe even into the second year, i had a egg size pouch the day i had surgery and they say its suppose to stretch some and should now 8 years later almost hold about 1 to 1 1/2 cup of food, nahhhhh, not even close, maybe 1 cup and thats on a good day, i was strick and very hard on myself and still am with eating and still have days when eating isnt the greatest thing to brag about,
i have friends who had surgery who now weigh more than when they had surgery, i have freinds who are thin now but are alcholics or bulmic, thats something you may want to read about and learn its called addiction transfer and thats what i have a FOOD ADDICTION or EATING DISORDER and with surgery i just now have it under control or should i say in recovery.
I could ramble on and on but check on the site n read mine and some other info and let me know how else i can help, i will say the day i had surgery i weighed 358lbs and today i weighed 124lbs, my goal was to just get to 199lbs and once i went under that i was ok and been this weight now inbwtn 124-129 for over two years and i love every minute of it,

Hi, I'm from Philly.  Have been doing all my preliminary testing.  My Psych, Nutrition & Physical Therapy appt is this Thursday.  My surgeon stated the date is usually about 2 months after for my RNY.  Would love to hear from anyone.  I haven't confided in my siblings too much because I know they are not happy and I don't need negative feelings.  I get enpugh of that from strangers.  My daughter is very supportive.
