My name is Stephanie, I am 36, female, mother of a 10 year old girl, married. Would like to talk to someone who is just starting their journey as I am. I am 1 month into my journey and have lost 11 pounds pre-operatively. I have been found to have severe sleep apnea and now must have my tonsils removed before i can proceed. Have my consult with the surgeon scheduled within the next 2 weeks. I'm going through Kaiser South San Francisco. Would like to text more than e-mail, but am willing to do both

Hello all...I have also started the process for RNY and anticipate I will have surgery late this year. I have had my first dr's appt and have appt for psch eval scheduled for early next month as well as next dr's appt and first with the dietician. I have to see the dr 3 times before seeing the surgeon and we THEN put in for approval for insurance. I actually do not mind the wait....this gives me time to inform my family, get back into an exercise routine, and time to make sure I am ready for this committment. I would love the support of a group on here to help through the process as well as help when questions arise. I also have to show a 5% weight loss so eating healthy is also on the agenda!

Oh my I am 5 years out and gaining like crazy. What is everyone doing about this. Where do you go for help? Has anyone gotten through this and stopped the gaining?

yes the waiting is definately the hardest part. i told myself that you have waited this long what is one more month for the first visit. but maybe it's because you know its gonna happen now and the waiting gets harder. hang in there though, i was getting frusturated with the waiting and now i am in my 3rd month and all my tests are done but one so time really does go fast. good luck to you!
