Topic: RE: Needed!!! email/text buddy had RNY in 04 and gained 50 lbs!
Hi,
I had my RNY in June 04 and have gained back 25 lbs that I have not been able to shed. I'm 58 yrs old, female. I originally lost 100 lbs never made my goal weight and have regained 25 lbs.
It's very frustrating but am not going to give up. I've let go of a few good habits such as the 30-30-30 rule of drinking with eating, and the 64 0zs of water per day. I'm going to reintroduce this plan of action and see what happens.
Hope to hear from you.
Carol

Hi there,
I am in Cambridge and have had my first information session this past May and am scheduled for the first appointments this month and am hoping to have surgery before Christmas. I think Dr. Reed will be doing mine as well.
Congratulations on your surgery, how are you feeling?
Sher

Topic: RE: Looking for a Pen Pal/email/text buddy in ME
Hi Kathy,
My name is Randi and live in Carmel ME. I am 39 yo, married and have the best 10 yo son.
I would love to be your penpal/buddy through your journey. I am 1 year and 3 months post op. I was doing great and about 4 months ago, I only had about 30 pounds to get to my ideal goal. Since then, I have been getting hungary all the time and have gained back about 10 pounds, so now I am 40 pounds to my goal. I have had a lot of stressing factors that I know may add to this. I am getting back to the basics, lots of water, protein, and trying a 5 day pouch test to make sure I didn't stretch my pouch.
I would love to support you through your journey as well. I found it works better with support. I cannot get to support groups because I am disabled and do not drive so cannot get to the meetings.
If you are interested, please email me at [email protected]
I would like to know where you are having your surgery and who your surgeon is, if you would like to share.
Look forward to hearing from you

Topic: RE: Looking for friends around Austin
I love near Katy myself and have lost almost 100 lbs on my own but my sister and mother had different weight loss surgeries
I started out weighing almost 435 lbs myself so I do understand the things that can happen to a person that size. I had a stroke in 2004 and had to reteach myself everything from walking to eating. I did gained weight because the depression and disability and being so physically damaged caused me great emotional pain. But January of 2010 I decided enough is enough and developed a plan, a easy concept to continue for life.
I hope you will consider me as a penpal, maybe we can offer support to each other.

Wow, Dr Dave!
As a fellow Texan, I understand the concept of strength and grit for getting things done. And you did it!
Now comes the really hard part: Keep going. It seems people can lose the weight and keep it off for a year or 2 but then being only human, start sliding and take their lost and hardwork for granted.
The mind can play tricks on a body: Just little of that and a bowl of this because some people start to believe the surgery was magic and now they can eat like "normal" people. Well, what is normal? It takes a lot of homework and study to know how to measure or eye a piece of something, along with a degree in calories and fat. Slipping and sliding through meal time and doing treats is an art. And it takes all the support a person can get to keep from falling. That is why I am writing you, offering support, and in return it gives me something to do other than think about my next meal. I hope you will consider me as your Texas Penpal. Thanks
